  1. It depends on what you are looking for in a group and how active the Mensa group in your area is. If you do join you know that the people there are intelligent and won't look at you as if you are weird. This is for children and young adults whose "friends" make fun of their intelligence. You can find sub-groups that are interested in the same things you are, and there are social gatherings on local, regional and national levels. You do not have to attend any meetings but then there would be no point in joining. In no way should you put this on a resume. That would just be bragging about "How smart I am"

  2. You can mention your membership on your CV.

You also get the privilege of sending them a subscription fee in exchange of their monthly magazine.

  3. Well, I'm one of those people with a high IQ. All of my friends are below me and are around average. That's great when I just want to have fun, but I also have a lot of "nerdy," intellectual interests that most people just don't get. I do algebra for fun, read college textbooks for enjoyment, study and collect rocks and fossils, etc., and I don't enjoy partying. It's really hard to find other people who feel the same way. I want to find friends who enjoy my nerdier hobbies. I am finally joining Mensa because I want to meet other like minded people who can fulfill the interests that my average friends aren't interested in.

Also, I want to date someone on my level. I am tired of having nonsense conversations with average guys! My ex was totally bored when I wanted to read and learn.

  4. You can brag to your mates that you are smarter than them...Mmm, maybe that's not an advantage afterall, some folk don't like big headed people!!!   Perhaps it would be better to steer clear, even if you are a genius!!!!

  5. Don't join Mensa is a lot of socially awkward losers who drink and can't hold jobs. There bums with high test scores.

  6. You get to think that you're clever... but you have to pay to have the exam marked and are no cleverer after you've done it.

  7. You get monthly Mensa Magazines and have the oppurtunity to attend Mensa gatherings aswell access to their forum and special boards.  You also get a Mensa folder and Card, nothing special, but it's handy.

I only joined as I wanted to get my IQ tested, but I don't mention it my CV or to anyone as it makes you sound like your trying hard to be clever, when it's obvious that IQ tests are not a true measure of intelligence.

I know I am moderately smart, but I didn't need an IQ test to confirm it, your smart or your not.

Anyway, I pay the student membership cost of £25 per year, but it may cost more for older people above 22.  The magazines are okay, but I only occasionally glance through it.

  8. there are none

  9. I never found any advantage to it. I joined for an intellectual social life but only found a lot of bombastic bores who pontificated endlessly about complete BS. They only did it to stake a claim to be the foremost intellectual there is. Status seekers.

If it is on your resume employers either feel threatened or think you are lying.

  10. looks good on resumes!

  11. Yoo dont havie to bee wif me amd mie freenz
