  1. I assume you are talking about lines used in technical drawings...

    Some of the basics are

Object/Visible lines- prominent lines used to represent edges of surfaces...

Dashed/Hidden lines- medium weight used to represent hidden surfaces, intersections, objects above the plane of the drawing, old construction or alternate positions of a movable component

Center lines- fine lines using dots or dashes used to show symmetry on the axiz of circular features, to locate the center of windows and doors

Dimension lines- fine lines with arrowheads at the extremities, numerical dimensions are centered above the line

Leader lines- fine lines pointing at an object, note or callout- usually drawn in a free-curved manner to separate from object lines

Cutting-plane lines: prominent broken lines used to represent the exact location of a plane of a section

Break lines- fine lines with offsets, usually freehand, representing a break of a partial view (if your kitchen connects to your dining room by one wall and you draw a plan of just your kitchen, break lines would go on the wall in question to show that the particular wall keeps going even though it is not seen)

Overall there are pictorial lines which outline the views of orthographic or pictoral drawings and there are symbolic lines are simplified conventional symbols of frequently used components

Heavier lines are meant to have more importance such as exterior walls and finer lines are for lesser important items such as a sofa.

You can google for more info- hope this is what you were looking for!!
