  1. I'd like to know too.  The AA program breeds intolerance of others.

  2. Rational Recovery. It's great, you can stay wrecked and pat yourself on the back for being sober. Who's that other idiot? Dr, Drew. There's a winner, he's got all these drunks and dope fiends slipping and sliding and he's happy as a monkey in a sidecar at his own imaginary success. The thing with AA, is people naturally don't want to be seen there, so they go to a different area for meetings and feel ignored and treated like outsiders. They ARE outsiders. Plus the people making the judgments are making them with a half a load on. But where else can you get sober for life for free, just show up and gradually get those 12 simple steps done. No religion, no dues, no Drs making it worse, no insurance, just hang out and grab a few laughs. It just doesn't get any better or easier. Good luck.

  3. Here are three good ones:

    http://www.smartrecovery.org/

    http://www.unhooked.com/index.htm

    http://www.womenforsobriety.org/

There's a group called Rational Recovery also that you can check out, but IMHO it's almost as "out there" as AA (in a different way of course).

    I hope this helps!

  4. There are several different programs.  There is, in my area one type called A.F.C. --Addicts finding Christ.  There are some pretty tolerant people there, whether you think they'd be or not.  They don't preach at you, they know they're human and no better than any other addict.

Also, Al Anon has shown me LOTS of tolerance and NOT judgment of others.

Perhaps if you've been to one AA place, try another group or area.  Good luck, one day at a time!
