What are the anime and manga of Elfin Lied about???

Iv'e eben seeing and hearing a lot about the manga,so i figured it couldn't be bad.i wanna know about the anime so that if i do like the manga,then i can watch the anime too.PLEASE answer soon!

Early on, it features a lot of blood and underage nude girls, but this tones down a lot for most of the series. So be warned.

The series centers around a new mutated race of humans called Diclonius. All Diclonius have two bone horns on the top of their head that resemble cat ears, and all (except for one) are sterile. Unfortunately, that's all the guys get. The female Diclonius get also get invisible psychic arms coming out of their backs (whose number, length, and power vary from person to person) which can be used to grab or can cut through pretty much anything.

One sercret group has been researching them for a long time and come to the conclusion that they are the first natural predator for humans, as Diclonius have a strange tendancy at about age 2 to start killing humans randomly, but they don't hurt other creatures. At the start, a mistake allows one mean Diclonius named Lucy to escape, but in the process she takes a hard hit to the head and forgets who she is, becoming a timid, gentle, and kind of mentally handicapped person named Nyuu, as that's the only thing she can say. It's only when something makes her seriously angry that she temporarily reverts to Lucy. Ther research group desperately wants to get her back by any means necessary, including sending other Diclonius to capture her.

The anime is 13 episodes and one OVA (which is basically episode 10.5), and ends with a bit of a cliffhanger. The manga continues past this (and is still ongoing last I heard), but also begins getting really strange and sometimes breaks its own established rules.

Well, Elfen Lied is about:

The Diclonius, a mutated homo sapien that is said to be selected by God and will eventually become the destruction of mankind, possesses two horns in their heads, and has a "sixth sense" which gives it telekinetic abilities. Due to this dangerous power, they have been captured and isolated in laboratories by the government. Lucy, a young and psychotic Diclonius, manages to break free of her confines and brutally murder most of the guards in the laboratory, only to get shot in the head as she makes her escape. She survives and manages to drift along to a beach, where two teenagers named Kouta and Yuka discovers her. Having lost her memories, she was named after the only thing that she can now say, "Nyuu," and the two allow her to stay at Kouta's home. However, it appears that the evil "Lucy" is not dead just yet...
