Box Bets: A Box bet allows the bettor to select more horses than the bet actually calls for. An Exacta Box, for example, would allow the bettor to choose 3 or more horses, instead of the traditional 2 horses picked. All possible combinations of the selected horses are then bet on. If you chose Exacta Box 1-2-3, it would be a bet on 1-2, 1-3, 2-1, 2-3, 3-1 and 3-2. With six possible combinations, the bet amount would be multiplied by six as well (i.e. $2 bet becomes a $12 bet).

Wheel Bets: Wheel bets are just like Box bets accept that one horse can be chosen to finish in a specific spot. For example, you believe the #1 horse will win the race, but aren’t sure whether #2 or #3 will come in second. You bet Exacta Wheel 1 with 2 with 3. This is a bet on 1-2 and 1-3.
