What are the average Utility Bills for a 3 bedroom house in Australia?

I work for a company who help people emigrate over to Australia so want to give them an idea about the cost of living over there. Since i don't personally live over in Australia this is quite hard to do! I'd be grateful if anyone could write back and let me know about the different costs.

Normal 4 bed House with Air Con used occasionally, Many TV's and DVD's etc on standby all the time, and 2 computers on almost all the time, swimming pool pump used for normal times, and pool heating pump run for about 10 months of the year. (no sense of electricity saving being used by us). No Gas, all Electric.

2007/08 total electric bill = $1,938.70 ($500 per quarter)

In 200/07 It was  = $1,572.85 (before pool installed) ($400 per quarter)

Our Council rates:

2007/2008 $2,254 inc water

2006/2007 $2,028 inc water

A similar house in NSW:

Council Rates:

2007/2008 $ 1,274 + $1,036 water = $2,310

2006/2007 $ 1,292 + $962 water = $2,254

I live in Central Queensland,so it gets pretty d**n hot in summer,our electric bill during the hot months is usually around the $1,000 mark.We have A/Cons in every room (3b/r,lounge,kitchen) The cooler months it's around $700.00,you might get to use your heater for about a month.Rates are around the $800.00 mark.....Hope this helps.

Depends on which state you live in. Generally most houses have gas as well as electricity, perhaps $250 a quarter each for gas and electricity. Water bills could be anything from $70 a quarter if some is covered by rental owner, to more than $200, depending on how much water is used. Rent tends to be cheaper in outer areas with access to train and buses, anything from $250 and up, generally expect to pay around $300 to $400 in rent a week and more in the city. Units are cheaper, in some areas from $200 up. 3 bedroom units are hard to find but can be found, from $250 up.
