After I finish my four years of college with ROTC (Register Nurse), what is it in the program that would not be a good thing?

And after I finish with ROTC, would I be working in the Air Force in the major that I finished and in a military hospital or would they send me to do something totally different that what I majored in?

Also, after I am done with College, can I continue in my education and go to med-school and after serve in the military or do I first have to serve and then continue my education?

  1. If you are in ROTC Currently then you need to contact the cadre there and find out.  If you have not entered ROTC yet then the admissions officer is the one that you need to talk with.  If you are graduating as with a BSN then you should commission as an RN.  You can get stationed at an Air Force hospital or clinic, or you could be assigned to an Aeromedical staging unit or an Air Evacuation Unit.  Air Evac are flight nurses.   You don't have much say in where you get stationed, however, you might have some say in what you get stationed as.  If you would like to fly as a nurse then you want to be commissioned as a X46F3 (flight Nurse).  You will need an initial flying class 3 physical for this.  If you want to stay on the ground then you want to commission in any of the other "46" series jobs.  Just not a 46F.  For a better listing go to www.usmilitary.about.com and look up air force nurses.  You will get a link to the different job descriptions.  If you can't find it let me know.
