  2. the npn transistor can be biased in 4 ways :

    Active mode -> Emmiter-base junction foward biased

                               Collector-base junction reverse biased  

    Saturated mode -> Emmiter-base junction foward biased

                                Collector-base junction foward biased  

    Inverted mode -> Emmiter-base junction reverse biased

                               Collector-base junction foward biased  

    Cut-off mode -> Emmiter-base junction reverse biased

                               Collector-base junction reverse biased  

    The config. of a pnp tranistor are just reverse
