What are the bars that you hang clothes on called?

i mean when you make your own wardrobe and have the metail bar with the little 'thing' it slots into that is screwed into the wall

does anyone no what they are called and were i could find them in the UK, please help!

They are know as closet rods. Put up many of them myself.  You can find them at any store that sells home improvement materials,  Home Depot, Lowes, ...etc.

They are just clothes rails and fittings, you can get them in Ikea.

Closet Rod.. In The United States we can purchase these at a Home Depot. If you have a similar store in the UK you can probably purchase it there.

Rails or clothes rails. You should be able to find some at B&Q or Wikes, possibly Homebase or your local private DIY shop.

The most elegant ones are wooden. You probably won't find wooden ones by that name. What you must look for is 3/4" dowel.

These can be cut to length and fitted into a 4" diameter plywood disc (about 1cm thick) with a 3/4" hole bored in the centre.

You then s***w the disc into the side of your wardrobe, do the same at the other end of the dowel  and there you are, a perfect clothes rail!
