  1. Here is what I wear

    under armor(shirt)

    regular shirt

    sweatshirt (if its really cold)

    winter jacket

    under armor(pants)

    regular pants

    snow pants

    heavy socks

ski boots (you can' get your foot in a ski if you don't have these)

    ski helmet

    ski goggles

    scarf

    gloves or mittens

If its really cold you should get hand and feet warmers. They go inside your gloves or boots and get really warm for a long time!

  2. Ski boots are only necessary if you will ski.  Socks should be wool or other wicking type material, not cotton.  Goggles are for eye protection and highly recommended, but sunglasses may be substituted if you are on the decks of the lodges.  Tennis shoes, only on the tennis courts or inside, cold wet tennies are miserable in Texas or San Diego, much less New Mexico.  For foot wear outside, Sorel makes a good all weather boot. For inside, dancing shoes for the dance floor, so forth.  Enjoy.  Jim.

  3. well if your a first timer either get lessons or have a good skiier with you. well heres what i'd take.

check weather conditions, cold id say under armor or something to that over the UA where a longer shirt or shirt that really doesnt matter that much & then a hoodie if you want and then obv a winter coat, gloves, make sure waterproof, and sweat pants would do and then like snow pants, i would wear thermal socks dont have to but if not id double layer ..

if its like mild out then under armor & shirt & hoodie then everthing else and you could take away stuff if its not cold out.

make sure nice soft shoes after youll feet will hurt a little and bring some nice hot coco for after and yes ski boots you need they'll have them to rent!

    HAVE FUN!

  4. mmmm.... i had to same ordeal. i had only been skiing twice on icey snow from missouri, then i was to go to colorado for real snow. I'd say a hat, bibs, heavy coat, and WATERPROOF gloves for sure. You may want googles or even sunglasses because sun reflects off of snow.  You would only want one pair of thick socks so your feet don't sweat. i don't know about a scarf. too easy to lose and maybe chokeful. if you know you need something for your neck, maybe a neck warmer. you will need a pair of skiies and boots to go with. rental? One pair of sweats underneath. Also, bring the least amount of keys and maybe a watch that goes into a pocket, not a wrist watch.

    hope you have fun!

also, try not to overdress, or you may sweat and wind up even colder.

  5. I go every year so i've got some experience. As ski boots go, unless you have completely stopped growing don't buy your own because you'll grow out of them. Just rent some. That's what a lot of people do including myself. I would wear insulated under garments that you can get at a place like sun & ski sport. You definetely want some good warm ski socks because that is the part, along with the hands that gets the coldest. Also make sure that you invest in a good pair of gloves, as your hands can get very cold, and that can make a day of skiing miserable. If it is snowing as you are skiing down the mountain and you dont have a pair of goggles you'll be very regretful. And make sure you get a good pair so that they dont fog up. You'll probably want something that you can wear over your entire head (my favorite brand is Turtle Fur) to keep your face warm. To just walk around to go eat or something, just buy some snow boots, cause snow will get in tennis shoes and be very cold. Hope i was helpful.
