  1. It's quite a lot to put on here so I'll post a link that explains the rules well. This explains the basic rules, violations and fouls in basketball. No need to make basketball complicated lol.

  2. it's going to be hard to make it sound basic!

get the ball in the basket, don't touch another player on the other team when their shooting ( but you can touch the ball), stay within bounds, dribble and if you stop dribbling you can only take one step before you have to pass or shoot the ball.

  3. basic rules are

traveling which is when you take more than two steps without dribbling

double-dribbling which is wen you dribble the ball then pick the ball up and stop dribbling then dribble again

3 seconds in the key which is wen you stay in the key (rectangle in between the basket and the free throw line)

fouling which is when you hit someone (on purpose or accidentally it doesn't matter )

carryover which is when you bribble the ball higher than your shoulder or when you are dribbling and the ball comes back up to your hand and you turn your hand all the way over until your hand is facing up with the ball still in your hand then you continue dribbling after( sorry this one was kind of hard to explain)

out of bounds which is when you dribble the ball and you step out of the court and out of the sidelines or the baseline (lines around the court)

these are the basic rules of basketball

hope this was helpful to you

  6. Well,

The object is to score more points then the other team.  Points are scored every time the ball goes into the basket.  There are 3 different point values when the ball goes in the basket.  If you have ever seen a basketball court, then you might have noticed an outer circle around the basket.   If yopu shoot outside of that you get 3 points, hence it is called a 3 point line....Inside of that you get 2 points.  Now, if you get "fouled", which will be described later, you get to shoot a "free throw" shot from the "free throw line" which is 15 feet from the basket.  That is worth 1 point.

So now that you know the scoring, lets get into the basics:  There are 2 ends of the court, each with a basket....

The ball is advanced by "dribbling"  or passing only.  (Dribbling is Bouncing the ball) I hope you know what that is, if you dont, then stop reading.   Anyway,  You can dribble as long as you want, but once you stop your dribble, you cannot start again, at that point you must pass the ball to a teamate.  Then shoot and try to get it in the basket.

Remember 1,2, or 3 pontis depending on the shot.

So a "foul" is when a defensive player bumps into an offensive player, and depending on the situation he/she will shoot free throws (no one is around them, it is a free shot).

Obviously there are many more rules and strategies, but you said you wanted the basics, so there you go.
