What are the basic beliefs of Democrats and of Republicans?

I am having a hard distinguishing who thinks what. If anyone could lay the facts out on the table plain and simple for me I would really appreciate it. : D

Democrats like to change for the h**l of it.  And raise taxes.

Democrats want to confiscate the fish from the fisherman and pass it around to those who do not wish to fish.

Democrats are fiscally and socially liberal.  Left wing politics.  They beleive that the rejection of our traditional values and institutions are how we progress as a people...right to an abortion...right to sexual orientation..etc.  They believe in the restriction of monetary or market freedom.  High taxes...redistribution of wealth...federal economic control.  Large government.  True equality is equality of status (financially, socially, etc.)...we are equal when we are the same.

Republicans are fiscally and socially conservative.  Right wing politics.  They believe that traditional institutions are what define us as a people and are worth protecting...traditional marriage...traditional values..religion.  They believe in free market and capitalism...low taxes...people keep what they earn...very little economic control.  Small government.  True equality is equality of opportunity...everyone has the right to reap no more than the benefits of thier own personal effort.

Democrats want to help everyone out that has problems. They want the government to set up all these programs to do this. They feel big business is the enemy and anyone who is filthy rich is pretty much evil. They believe that our system is not fair and should be changed. They do not believe in wars.

Republicans want individuals to help people, not he government. They think the government basically screws up everything it touches so, the smaller, the better. Republicans believe strongly in capitalism...if you can make money ethically, more power to you...it's the American dream! Republicans believe the core of a nation is a strong family unit and this should be protected at all costs.

I will give you a few personal reasons why I switched from a dem to a rep. A republican would want to protect your children from pornography and a dem would say, hey, you are taking away my freedom of speech. A republican would want to protect your life and keep you safe by screening phone calls from outside the US for potential threats and code words. A republican would say that you are taking away my right to privacy. A republican would say no to partial birth abortions (ripping out a baby with a big hook while they are still living) and a dem would say you are taking away my right to choose. Ok and now my personal story of what made me switch. I had a lot of friends on welfare and I was really into being fair, making everyone happy at the cost of my own values, and helping those in need. Well, then I got married and a few years later had a baby. I worked 12 night shifts so I could have a house, and help contribute to our family. While my friend, didn't work but a few months and I don't think her husband worked at all and she got a huge tax return. For what?? Staying at home? While we on the other hand owed taxes, even after writing off the interest on our house! My dad then explained what a republican was and demythed all the things that I had heard about republicans; then I switched

dems- Pro-abortion, pro-g*y marriage, pro-high taxes to pay for government programs like socialized healthcare, pro-government handouts, pro-gun control, anti-drilling for oil off our coast. They also want to talk with terrorists rather than fight them.

republicans- Pro-life, anti-g*y marriage, pro-low taxes, pro-2nd amendment, pro-drilling for oil off of our coast. They'd rather fight terrorists than talk to them.

DEMOCRATS BASE THEIR CHOICES ON HOW IT MAKES THEM FEEL. REPUBLICANS BASE THEIR CHOICES ON WHAT THEY THINK. IN OTHER WORDS DEMS THINK WITH THEIR HEART. REPS THINK WITH THEIR BRAIN.
