  2. There are many different laws that govern vehicles on the road in the US and Canada. Each state or province sets it's own laws which you are required to follow. For example, in some states and provinces in Canada it is illegal to posess a radar detector. In some provinces in Canada it is illegal to put on snow chains such as in Ontario for commercial vehicles. In other provinces you can pull three vehicle combinations and in others you cannot. However, I think the basic regulations would be your exhaust output, lights are all working, Signals work, Hazard lights work, horn works, mirrors are attached safely and you can see, Wipers work and your seatbelts work. There are many other fine points, but for each state or province it does require some reading into their manuals.
