I was thinking of doing some house cleaning for people to earn extra income...I know the obvious stuff should be done, i.e. dust, vacuum, clean the floors, coutertops, bathrooms...just looking for some start-up suggestions. Also, how do you determine what to charge the client?

  1. You charge by the hour. I charge $20 an hour.

  2. I have been cleaning homes in the Massachsetts area and I clean all the bathrooms, sinks, toilets, tubs and floor.I do the kitchen, sink, floor and counters. I also windex everthing so it looks nice and bright. I dust and vacuum the rest of the house. I generally don't make beds. I certainly wouldn't make all the beds in the house. The trick is to have the people come home and just see a sparkling clean home. They love it. You really don't have to kill yourself over it. I charge per house which usually is between $75.00 to $80.00.
