What are the basics of that tango?

Question

I'm choreographing a musical and for one of the numbers the director wants a tango. The problem is, all I know about the tango is what I've seen on Dancing With the Stars. Can someone please describe the basic hold, the basic step, and/or direct me to a website that has pictures and videos describing them? Thank you so much in advance! Please site your sources.

There are several different styles of tango. The previous poster gave you an excellent link to the basic steps of the international tango. I highly recommend that you review the step pattern and the sequence. However, you might also want to take a look at the following YouTube video:

I find that the instructors are very thorough and provide detailed information.
