  1. lots of money

    LOL but seriously

    really acid free products

creative memories sells all you need

and if you attend a scrapbooking party you can join up with someone and share the cost of scrapbooking supplies.

  2. The basics that you're going to need are:

    Scissors

Acid free adhesive (glue), but I would recommend a hermafix dispenser and the tabs you use in them, it's SO much easier.  You can get them at any Michael's, AC Moore, WalMart, Joann's, etc.  You buy the dispenser and the tabs are the refills and they are SO easy to use and refill!

An album and these days there are SO many choices of sizes!  You can do 12x12, 6x6, 8x8, 8 and a half x 11, and even 4x4.  Usually most scrapbookers do 12x12 or the 8 and half by the 11.  Some even do the 8x8 or the 6x6 to start.

    Acid free cardstock and paper

A good paper trimmer (making memories has a good one out). This makes cutting things SO much easier, you can put your paper in the trimmer and it cuts a straight line in seconds!

Ruler, I would get one and just have it on hand.

Those are the basics, and you want to make sure that your paper and glue is acid free and your album too.  Acid free mean there's no acid in them so destroy your pictures.  That yellowing you see in old photo albums is the acid eating away at the pictures.  Your hands do have the chemicals and of course there's no way to totally protect it, but buying supplies that are acid free REALLY does help!

From there, you can buy stickers, and embellishements, which are things to decorate your pages with.  Those things are brads and buttons, eyelets, anything that you would use to decorate your pages with.  You can use ribbons, stickers, brads, buttons, there are SO many things out now, you can wander craft stores for hours looking at all the new cool things that are out!  There's even felt, wire, and SO SO SO much more!  Those are all the extras and those are up to you what you like and want to use.

You can also go to QVC.com and they sell kits that are SO much cheaper for things than you would buy in a store, they come with the albums, paper, and stickers and ALL the embellishements you could want and use for more than one or even 2 albums and you pay SO SO SO much less than you would in  a store!  Their kits are about $45 dollars and the things you get in their kits would cost WELL OVER $100 in a store, sometimes DOUBLE that!  That's how good their deals there!  You can go to their website and then go to toys and hobbies and click on scrapbooking and their supplies are TOP quality.  The leaders of the industry bring the supplies there to sell.

You can also go to orientaltrading.com, they now have a whole scrapbooking catalog and section on their website and they have awesome deals too!  Their supplies are good quality too and their deals are great!

You can also use the Michael's and AC Moore coupons that come in the weekly paper and go there and get some things each week.  They come in the paper each Sunday, so look in this week's paper and Michael's is doing dollar days starting tomorrow for a week and they're having  a LOT on sale!!!  Even the stickers for scrapbooking and not the little junky ones, they really good ones and the cardstock too!

Good luck and have fun putting your book together!!

  3. Go digital - then you don't need all the clutter.  Just the pix and a good digital storybooking site.  I have used them all but prefer Heritage Makers.  Here's a link to an HM site - check it out!
