  1. The differences between sparrow species can be subtle.  As for House Sparrows, their song is a twittering series of chirps, and their call is a monotonous, repeated "cheep-cheep-cheep."  They eat insects, seeds, and fruits; forages on the ground, in trees and shrubs, usually in urban and rural areas.  They are not migratory, unlike other sparrow species.  Most are monogamous, put some are promiscuous.  For nesting material, they use grass, straw, weeds, cotton, bits of debris, twigs, and feathers.  For a complete description of their behavior, you'd need an entire book, but this is some of the basics.
