What are the bends? (medical version)?

I tried looking up the bends in google but it kept coming up with a band. What I want to know is, what are the bends and what causes them or it?

Nitrogen bubbles in your bloodstream from ascending to quickly from the deep... U either have to sit in a depressure chamber (which is extremely painful) or you don't pass go and are PWNED,,,

the bends is caused by being in deep water and coming uo to quick i dont know the exact cause but i think its something to do with the water pressure (i could be wrong) type it in on wikipedia they will defo give you a good answer

Decompression sickness.  Happens then the gasses in your bloodstream that have been compressed due to a higher external pressure begin to expand as that pressure grows weaker.
