  1. I think you should stick with XP.

Vista is the first system that is not based on MSDOS and you will eventually have to learn Vista.

To learn about Vista just go to microsoft.com

  2. I will assume your PC came with XP.  Unless you bought it in the past 2 years you will probably not want to upgrade to Vista because it requires much more memory (at least 2 GB) and processing power (dual core or better).  Usually better off getting a new PC with Vista already installed.

  3. The answer to all of them is 'No'.

    Let me clarify.

    1. You can install programs or games. But they have to be compatible with Vista. Some of the older games don't run very well on Vista.

    2. Anti-virus is a third party ware and you need to buy a compatible version.

    3. No files are lost unless you delete partition/format while installing Vista.

    4. Vista needs and uses up more Chip power and Ram. So your older hardware runs a bit slow, not fast with Vista.

    5. Vista looks cool, it has more security and more controls. You will be asked before changing any settings.

    6. Enhanced security is the one feature I find good with Vista.

Overall, if you are used to XP and would like to keep the older computer, stick with it.

If you are buying a new computer with Vista, go for it.

  4. stick with XP, vista is ment for new PCs the whole "upgrade" thing is purely a marketing scheme by microsoft. Vista is good but you put it on an old computer and it will run like c**p. And no, no OS comes with anti-virus software nore does any speed up the clock speed of your PC. You wouldn't lose your files if you did the upgrade right and i have no idea what you mean by the first question.

  5. Windows vista's only really good feature is the new search

its really fast and much more effective

but really its just a more flashy Xp

Vista has problems bare in mind though...
