What are the benefits and faults of the different soccer formations? Most have some detail.

By soccer formations I mean field setups like 1-5-4 2-4-4 3-3-4 etc. Best answer gets 10 =)

4-4-2 formation is common because you can have positions like CM into DM or AM and more positions can be used as others etc

4-4-2: most commonly seen in modern football, midfielders can play as attackers

4-3-3: attacking formation, good for youth because it clearly identifies positions

4-2-4: offensive formation, lots of pressure for the defence

3-4-3: mostly offensive formation, defenders must be strong

3-5-2: outside midfielders serve more as defenders, team should have strong midfielders
