What are the benefits & drawbacks of going abroad for higher studies alone?

I'm thinking of going aboard for studing for studing but I don't have any view so please help me.

  1. There are a lot of benefits of studying overseas.

    meeting different people

    learning a new language and culture

    finding yourself/gaining confidence

    seeing new places

    I am not sure of many drawbacks...expensive, losing contact with friends back home.
