Okay. I know a lot of friends that use Marijuana like two times a week casue they claim it calms them down and helps them relax. they even claim it helps open up the mind so they can study (and these are medical students). A lot of people tell me it also helps with sleep and the nervous sytem. Is this true?

Also what are the Physical affects? is it good or bad for skin?

Keep in mind i do not smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol that much.

Any input?

  1. the only benefit I can think of is at least you don't really know all the chemicals you are sucking into your body and if you don't want a job you are guaranteed to fail your next drug test.  Smoke on!

  2. The usual medical applications are Analgesic = pain killer (like aspirin) and Appetite stimulant.  It is prescibed to MS multiple sclerosis patients to lessen spasms and relax muscles.

  3. For christ sake DONT ask people on Yahoo.com!! All there gonna do is put you down for asking the question or just give you false information!!!

there plenty of health benefits! and your friends have it exactly right man!

Many scientifically proved health benefits, believe me. Read up on it.

  4. Marijuana does do all those things.  Marijuana does calm you down, it helps releives stress and anxiety, much the way cigarettes do, except to a heavier to degree, ive found.

ON FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE, it was AFTER i started smoking marijuana that my gpa went from a 2.8 to a 3.3.  yes, thats right, my grades went up.  now this might not be a universal truth, but it worked for me, and thats because it does clear your mind and kinda freshens you up, but you have to totally come down before you start studying. i also didnt smoke on nights when i had a test the next day or big project to do.

One of the things doctors perscribe it for is insomnia, as it can make you very sleepy.  ive found that everytime i get high and then go to bed for the night, no matter how little sleep i get, i always wake up refreshed and feeling like i got ten hours of sleep.  it also affects the nervous system because it can help with chronic pain.  i have been playing football for 4 years and before that i was a catcher in baseball for 6. my knees are shot to **** and, quite literally, it hurts to an extent every time i walk. marijuana gets rid of that.

those are the physical effects....it has minimal damage to the lungs, as it has less carcinigens (depending on which study you defer to, this is a heavily debated topic.)  however if you use a bong, you're getting wayy fewer carcinigens, and a vaporizer, you get practically none.  other than that, there are no other effects, and your skin....ive never heard of it having any effect on the skin, unless you put out a j on your hand and burn yourself.

dont smoke cigs, they're terrible for you, whereas weed is good.

GOOD TO HEAR SOMEONE WANTS TO LEARN THE TRUTH.  BUT DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT.  EDUCATE YOURSELF. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. DONT ACCEPT PROPAGANDA.

  5. I know a lot of doctors who smoke on occasion, my husband included! We support using marijuana in moderation as it is healthier than drinking alcohol, has few negative side effects if used sparingly, and has many clinical indications. Used medicinally, marijuana has greatly improved the quality of life for many cancer patients as well as people with anxiety disorders. For anxiety and insomnia, marijuana is great as the drugs that are normally prescribed are more dangerous and far more addictive.

I find that smoking of any kind is bad for the skin. Chronic use is bad as it has far reaching negative effects on brain function. I used to smoke a lot when I was younger and my short term memory and memory recall are moderately impaired. But it does not seem to effect everyone this way. Smoking is just bad period and many people choose to cook with it instead.

Far more health care resouces are burned through treating alcoholism and cigarette smoking induced diseases. I don't understand why marijuana is illegal in most states.
