You mean besides having absolute control to run things the way you want them?

And I hope you're not assuming dictators are automatically bad.  They can be good.  Julius and Augustus Caesar were dictators, but many would say they did a good job (not to mention being loved by the people).  In theory, if the intentions are good, it can be an effective form of rule.
