  1. While it's true what the last person said, there are also obvious altruistic benefits. You can be a social worker aiding in specific areas that you are passionate about. For example, working with prostitutes to get them off of the streets and into a safer work environment. Or working with foster children to place them in permanent homes. Pretty much any job where you work with people who have been dealt a terrible will have a fair share of heartbreak. But there's always something every once in a while that makes your heart sing through the dark weeks.


  2. I'm not sure there are any. Every social worker I know is miserable. Understaffed, little pay, constant unyielding head ache, zero satisfaction.
