You get paid for volunteer work, just not in money.  You'll know what I mean once you do it.  Other benefits: You can learn new skills and meet new people and it looks great on job/college applications.  It really fun!  You should at least try it once.  Chances are, you'll be hooked.  Happy volunteering!

schools look at community service and some recquire community service.

get a better job later because you have real contacts who respect you for sacrificing your time.
