What are the benefits of drinking half your body weight in oz of water everyday?

So if you weight 200 pounds, you drink 100 ounces of water everyday. I asked this question before, but I forgot to mention ounces. Sorry.

  1. people think that a lot of water is good. A balanced amount of water is good. the benefits of drinking a correct amount of water is a cleaner body system and normal amounts of urination.  


  2. Well drinking lots of water helps to burn fat, and it also cleanses your system.

    The downside though is going to the bathroom all the time.

  4. Uhhh...too much water can be a very bad thing. You can actually suffer from water intoxication (also known as hyperhydration or water poisoning) Water is good for you, but don't overdo it!

  6. Actually to much water is lethal. Many have died as they drank themselves literally to death causing their celluar structure to literally fall apart.  It has been proven that drinking lots of water doesn't do anything for you.  It's also been proven that drinking lots of water doesn't help in weight loss.  You should follow this:

    For every 600 calories (kilocalories, actually) of heat loss, the body loses 1 liter of water. If we consider that a typical resting energy expenditure for a woman is 1,200 to 1,500 cal(kcal)/day, that means that she can lose 2-3 liters of water a day just through activities of daily living, not including the added loss from exercise. During intense exercise, water loss can be as much as 2 liters/hour.

  7. the first guy is right.

    there was a kid in my husbands boot camp that passes out while exercising, and they took him to the hospital. the first impression they had was they he was dehydrated. they gave him an IV, and it killed him.

    but people dont really realize, 100oz is just over 10 glasses a day. thats a lot, but wont kill you. i usually drink 100 oz 3 times a week. a CAMELBAK sometimes holds 100oz and i hike with it, and finish it.

    i get filled up on water, and dont eat so much. so i ever since i have been hiking, and drinking that amount of water, i have lost quite a bit of weight.

    drinking a ton of water will detox your body, but you cant stop there. in order to complete clean out your system and get the full benefits you need to stop eating processed foods and eat more fruits and veggies.

    but drinking only water and not things like soda or sweet juices, is extremely healthy for you.

    you will have more energy and not as many headaches.

  14. There are no benefits to drinking way more water than your body requires. Too much water can actually kill you due to swelling in the brain.
