I am currently a teacher who has just earned a M.Ed.. I am currently looking at several schools to earn an Ed.D.. Is it worth it to earn a terminal degree when, as a teacher, I'll be paying more for the degree than I'll ever make as a public school teacher? Is just wanting to continue my education and having a doctoral degree worth it?

  1. I believe that it IS worth it to continue one's education even if the increase in pay won't compensate for it.  You will benefit in many other ways.  You will fulfill a personal goal, (you'll won't look back and ask "What if..."), you will open many more doors in your retirement.  Maybe an adjunct teaching job at a local college would be the dessert of your career.  Your achievements will gain you the respect of your students and peers.  I say do it!
