3 ANSWERS

  1. 1. Individual attention for the child.

    2. child is less susceptible to contagious illnesses that are ubiquitous in nurseries.

    3. You have the choice to select the childminder rather than be at the mercy of the nursery director and who she hires.

  2. I only have experience with one daycare (or nursery) and it was not good - you are at the mercy of the director and who she hires to watch your child, even if you disagree with her rules and theories.

Family daycare (or childminder) is in the person's home - so it's more homey, there are less children and it's cleaner.  That is, if you check the place out and pick a clean one and a person who matches your beliefs.  Interview and visit - it's the best way to find your match for you and for your child.

  3. You will likely have more input into your child's day, schedule etc with a child minder, more flexible schedule, cheaper rates, perhaps more feedback as well. Your child might have smaller child:minder ratios, and quieter sleep areas with fewer children.
