  1. It's better for the environment (less gas for transport, less emissions, etc), and it's better taste and health-wise because it's fresher. Eating fruits and vegetables that are picked as close as possible to peak ripeness taste better and have more antioxidants and vitamins than foods from across the country (or globe) because those foods are usually picked prematurely (to ripen on the trip), or even artificially incubated under heat lamps. Not as healthful.

  2. it's better for the environment, for sure. it saves tons of resources because you don't have to ship the food.

also, i think it would be better for you because they don't put chemicals and stuff in the food to keep it "fresh" while they ship it across the country or world.

  3. Well here is something that I learned recently, if you battle allergies it is good to eat honey that was made with in 20 miles of where you live. Something to do with the bees and pollination it helps your body fight the allergens you are surrounded by in your town.

  4. no it is not  but some local food is tastier but it better mostly because you support local business

  5. The best thing about locally grown foods is the fact that you're supporting local businesses/farmers. Usually, you can get locally grown foods a little cheaper because there isn't very much shipping involved (if any).

It's also easier to find out where the food was grown/produced and what pesticides were used on or around it.
