  1. Not forgetting that without it the earth would have a solid iron centre, and none on the many geological features such as fold mountains it has today. No life would exist because the sun would not produce heat due to nuclear fusion.

    Also, nuclear radiation can be used to treat and find diseases in the body, such as PET, or positron emission tomogrophy.

    Nuclear radiation is all around us, the foodwe eat and rocks we live on all emit it, as do we.

  4. The radiation is not what we use the radioactive materials for to get energy. That is either fission or fusion.

    We use the radiation to treat cancer.

    It is also used in many diagnoses

    It is used to trace pathways and check for leaks in industry, and fracture points in metals

    In plants it is used to trace metabolic pathways

  5. It is a power source, that can be used to generate electricity or to destroy objects (e.g., buildings, enemy military formations) when needed.
