I am going to high school and my science teacher recommended me for chemistry since he said I was good at it. Are there any advantages or disadvantages in doing this?

  1. The benefit is quite simple.  Once you have some understanding of chemistry, biology becomes much more understandable.  For example, there are terms which show up in biology that you would already know from chemistry, such as pH, protein, carbohydrate, lipid, proton, electron, solution, sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, carbonate, crystal, energy, free energy, buffer, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, iron, ........

However, be sure that your algebra skills are good before taking chemistry.  You will need them.

  2. its like, no big deal. you'll get to it anyway., and i dont think your talent at it will fade or anything

you have to take it eventually its really not a big deal.
