What are the benefits or differences between the Gimp and Adobe Photoshop CS2 programs?

I know Gimp is Free but is Photoshop easier to use or offer more features that make it worthwhile.

GIMP is free and is the basic program for making avatars, signatures colorful and look more attractive.

Adobe Photoshop is more advanced than GIMP because the tools that you will be using are a bit complicated so it needs skills.

If i were you, start with GIMP and try yourself familiarizing the tools before you get Photoshop. Because just like what i said, Photoshop is more advanced and more complicated. Also, Photoshop costs too much while GIMP is free.

More features, yes.  Easier to use, probably not unless you know Photoshop.  Since CS2 or CS3 (latest version) is around $650, you might consider Photoshop Elements 6.0 which will do everything you probably will want to do.  You will find it around $80 or less.
