  1. Any 10 Hondas and Toyotas.  I have a 99 Honda Civic, mostly city driving, with 153K miles and I don't fill up for a couple weeks!  It's great!

  2. I drive a Prius in Germany, where gas costs well over $6/gallon.  I have driven Toyotas for over 25 years and have never had a problem that I didn't cause myself.  The Prius may be more expensive, but the Mercedes is more expensive than the VW, too.  You're paying for the quality.  The person who says they're getting 60 MPG is probably really working at it.  I don't make any special effort, and I drive on the no-speedlimit- autobahn, sometimes at 170 kph (a little over 100 mph), and get 45-50 MPG.  If I turned the airconditioner off and drove like there were eggs under the gas pedal, I would get better mileage, of course.  If you Google Prius you'll come across some guys in the south who got over 100 MPG, using a technique called "pulse and glide", which is not practical on the road.  I read an article that says that Prius is coming out with a new edition in 2009 that will get 80 MPG.

  3. Toyota Yaris (40mpg) or the Toyota Prius(60 mpg). Those and any Honda and thats it. nothing else is worth the money.

  4. Hybribs are a good choice & Toyota by far has the best one. A hybrid gets better gas mileage in the city not on the highway. If you buy a hybrid you will also receive a tax deduction.

  5. to be honest with you you can buy the most economical car out there to date but the way gas prices are these days nothing is good on gas..its ridiculous how much we have to pay for gas..gotta take out a 30 year loan just to buy a weeks worth of gas..its crazy!

  6. Here's your top ten:

Hovever, I live in NC and have driven to Texas and know it's over 20 hours.  If you plan on doing this a lot, look to see it you can find a CNG "natural gas" filling station along the way.  The cleanest vehicle on the planet right now is the Honda Civic GX NGV.  It also has the lowest fuel costs per mile.  If natural gas prices fall this summer it is like getting 170 miles per gallon at the pump.  You just have to pre-plan your fuel stops, or to use one here in NC, have a NG filling station at home.  In my opinion, well worth it.

Look at this list.  Surprising, huh?

  7. make a list of ten honda models.....sadly for the usa......and you pretty much have it. My daughters civic has 285,000 miles and still going strong. What more could you ask?

  8. I highly recommend the Toyota Corolla. They are exceptionally durable and the engines generally last far beyond 200,000. I own a 1995 Corolla, and in the past three years, I have only had to pay $200 in repairs total. I have over 185,000 on the car, and it runs like a gem.

The best thing about it, given rising gas prices, is the gas mileage it gets. My husband and I live in Dallas, and just this weekend we drove to Houston and back. Our gas mileage for the trip was over 45 mpg. I try to drive around 60 miles an hour, so if you drive much faster than that, you won't get quite as good gas mileage. During our day to day driving, we get 30-35 miles per gallon, and that includes lots of time stuck in stop and go traffic during my husband's daily commute.

If I were you, I would purchase a used Corolla that is in good condition. It will be far less expensive than buying a hybrid vehicle, and you can get nearly as good gas mileage if you don't drive like a speed demon! If you have the money and the desire to purchase a hybrid, I recommend the Toyota Prius. I have heard that Honda hybrids may not get better gas mileage than their conventional equivalents. My father-in-law has had a Prius for the past six months and has nothing but good things to say about it. I think he gets at least 50 mpg on every tank of gas, whether he's driving on the freeway or around town.

  9. Chevy impala is a full size car and get up to 37 mpg and that will kick the *** of any Toyota.  By the way this 37 mpg is driving at about 79 mph and thats about interstate speed. By the way did anybody bother telling you that Toyota's engines only last up until the warranty runs out and then it dies. Big lawsuit against Toyota. Nothing released to public just to car dealerships.  Also Chevy car will last until the body rusts off and the engine will still be running. Very well built cars.  Nothing small, ugly, or wimpy, but a sturdy well built American car. Of course us patriots really love our American things versus those ugly POS Toyota's.

PS: all Toyota's look as though the designers have been looking at peoples big noises. Also they are built from cheap materials that may wear and break easier.

  10. the new Toyota 4runner hybrid is really tough and gets about 36mpg, by far the best SUV on the market

  11. Toyota, Honda, not American.

  12. go to the nrma web site and search for best economical cars for 06/07.

  13. I think the Toyota Prius gets the best gas mileage, but the are pretty expensive compared to other hybrids.

  14. Anything by Toyota or Honda! I have a Toyota Camry LE it is great. Hope this will help!!

  15. Can't give you 10.

  16. Toyota Prius...I love my car. I've had it for 2 years and I've had no problems.

  17. I have a 2006 Honda Civic, I use my car everyday and I fill my tank up about every 2 weeks.  I also expect the car to go strong for a while consdering Honda's reputation.
