What are the best 5.1 speakers for ~$1000?

I looked at the bose acoustimass 10, but thought that if I was going to spend $1000, I should get the best speakers I can as I hear bose are generally overpriced. Note that size and aesthetics are quite important to me. Also, 5.1 is a minimum. 7.1, etc is fine too. What's the best way to go?

Sorry to criticize your choice but Bose are over rated and over priced. I suggest you check out this site.

www.avsforum.com. There you can read until your get dizzy. Tons of good suggestions over there. Speaker selection is really subjective. Some might think 20K speakers sound like junk some do not. It all depends on your ears and also what equipment your speakers will be connected to.

best is really subjective especially in the audio world. that being said i think that the yamaha/klipsch system at bestbuy is a bose killer
