  1. Alevels to study to become a teacher are specific only to the subject /subjects you want to carry on to university.

I did alevel art, english and sociology, and then went on to do a degree in sociology, in a year i could teach sociology.

However i want to be an art teacher and now am doing a 3 year art degree.

As far as the easiest alevels i feel it is person specific, whereas i found sociology to be easy others in my year didnt. It is however much easier to do an alevel you semi like, like if you think english is ok but hate maths then its an easy choice between them.

I would suggest though, you keep in mind that when you are older money becomes more important and whatever subject you teach can offer more or less money. For example starting salary art teacher 18-20 grand, maths/science teacher 20-25 grand a year.

    Hope this helps :-)

  2. it depends on what you want to teach but, math english and science is a good place to start.

you can do up to 4 A-levels at a time but i would suggest doing three, 4 is a bit hetic to mange.

good luck with becoming a teacher.

  3. Do whatever subjects you are best at and enjoy.  To be a good teacher you will need to exhibit enthusiasm for what you teach, so follow your interests.  Then go and get a good degree in the subject that most interests you before doing the teacher training degree.

  4. I studied human biology, physics and chemistry and then did human biology at university and am now a science teacher.  I would recommend studying English as you need to be able to show a good standard of English and Maths to qualify as a teacher nowadays.  I do wish that I had more of a solid grounding in English.

  5. you dont need to do A levels at college to be a teacher. You can do the CACHE course. it is really easy and fun and its worth 3 or 4 A levels. im doing it at the moment i spend 2 days at placement (in nursery or school) and 2 and a half days at college. i think it is a really easy way to become a teacher , when you finish the course you just go on to uni. most of the people in my class want to be teachers. check out the website http://www.cache.org.uk

when you finish the Cache course you can go straight into a shop working with children like a nursery nurse. but if you want to be a teacher or childrens nurse you need to go to uni or i think you can do a higher CACHE certificate.

  6. Depends what age you want to teach, older kids you'd be best doing specific subjects you want to teach, younger, nursery/primary and general subjects will do.

I did English and Psychology, which were both pretty hard, (what subject isn't tho at A-level!) but well worth it, English A-level teaches you alot more then GCSEs did, and psychology should cover child psychology, which is really interesting if you want to work with kids.

I'm just completing a degree in Early Childhood Education, and these a-levels definately helped alot.

  7. For primary school teaching there is a minimum requirement. Beyond that, the preferred degree for primary teachers is a BEd (rather than any other degree plus a PGCE). This is partly because you will gain much more classroom (ie behaviour management) experience than on the PGCE track.

So, providing you are convinced that teaching is the job for you, look at (good) university entry requirements for BEd courses and ensure you put priority into getting good grades in those subjects. Steer away from trendy and waste-of-time A-levels and, providing you are fairly competent, go for main stream subjects. With the introduction of modern languages into primaries a language A-level would be a good asset, helping you secure a first job. ICT skills are also sought after.
