Fish & chips, steak & kidney pie, sausage & mash, roast dinners, toad in the hole, full English breakfast. Then there's the great British puddings such as apple/rhubarb/apple & blackberry crumble & custard, apple pie & custard, jam roly-poly, spotted d**k & treacle/jam sponge all served with custard. And my favourite pudding is trifle.

There are thousands of great British dishes. Because of colonial rule in the 19th century, foods from all over the world have influenced the British palate. Curry is now the most popular take away in the UK followed closely by Fish `n Chips and mushy peas.

As for home made fayre, Roast beef and Yorkshire Pudding dinner remains a firm favourite on a Sunday.

The great Full English and Ulster fry breakfasts, are probably the best breakfasts in the world.

The British also specialise in sausage and cheese. Black pudding `sausage` and Scottish Haggis cannot be beaten. The `King` of cheeses, Stilton is the most famous cheese in the world, and Lancashire mature cheese is probably the best cooking cheese available, and is brilliant for Welsh rabbit.
