My husband and I are going to San Antonio this weekend for a mini-vacation, and we love love love good, strong margaritas and Mexican food. Any suggestions? Romantic spots are more enticing than lively ones for us. We're staying on the Riverwalk.

  1. There are tons of them on th riverwalk but not very romantic, lots of people.  Go to mysa.com and look around at some of the restaraunts.  It all depends if you want to leave the riverwalk area.  Papasitos on I-10 west is real good.

  2. there's one called Mi Tierra. It's close to a Hispanic Museum. I like it. The only thing is that you have to walk to get there! Have Fun!

  3. Rockys on the southside

  4. I'd suggest Martha's on Broadway and 410 or the one on Babcock and Huebner.  Best Mexican food and margaritas.

  5. If you want Romantic go to the La Fogata in the wee part of the evening when sun going down and sit in patio beautiful..and see the beautiful lights around the cooler weather..

  6. my personal favorite is tamatillo's.  i think its on Broadway, near the witty museum.  REALLY good food.  combo #4 is my fav!  i dont know how romantic the restaurant itself is, but afterwards you could go for a nice moonlight stroll thru Breckenridge park, just down the street.  very beautiful!

  7. It kind of depends if you have a car or not.

If  you are in the downtown area and no car then i would say La Margarita.  It's located in the market square.  I like it better the mi Tierra.  given a choice between the two.  Also available is the Mexican Manhattan.  If you can sit outside it overlooks the riverwalk.

If you have a car or a cab then i would recommend Los Patios.

but for the best cheapest mexican food...Blanco Cafe.

  8. Tomatillo's is a good option as someone suggested, and Ajuua's is also really really good with great margaritas.  So is the Alamo Cafe on 281.

None of these are close to the Riverwalk.

Honestly, none of the Mexican restaurants on the Riverwalk are very good- you go there for the ambience, not the food.
