  1. Muerren is a famous village about 25km south of Interlaken, and it makes a perfect day-excursion from Interlaken ! Muerren is situated high above the Lauterbrunnen-valley in a hight of 1650 meters. There is NO public road up the mountains there, and ONLY a few local people may use their cars in Muerren. That fact makes the village of Muerren even more interesting and a perfect place for a quiet vacation and great area to go skiing or hiking.

Schilthorn is also called Piz Gloria since the James-Bond-movie "On her Majesty's Secret Service" was made there in 1968 and still today plenty of tourists mainly go up there in order to see the place where the movie was made. With a height of 2970 meters Schilthorn is one of the most famous mountains of Switzerland and it offers a perfect 360 degree-panorama including Eiger, Moench, Jungfrau,Mont Blanc, the Lake Thun, Schyniggeplatte, the mountains around Bern and Fribourg and plenty of others.

Brienz is a great place for a day-excursion and certainly a lot more beautiful and romantic than Interlaken and you will find it at the other end of the lake Brienz / Brienzersee. Brienz is a lot less hectic than Interlaken and it makes sense to spend at least 1-2 hours exploring the beautiful wooden houses of the village. Brunngasse is the most famous, but there are a lot more of beautifully decorated wooden houses all over town.

The Truemmelbach-falls in Lauterbrunnen are certainly worth a half-daytrip, when you stay in Interlaken and you may easily combine it with excursions to Wengen, Muerren or Jungfraujoch.

  2. The Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau - Interlaken, Switzerland

This hike begings from the car-free resort of Wengen and ends at Kleine Scheidegg. You will have a chance to admire three mountain giants Eiger, the Monch, and the Jungfrau. Fantastic Alpine scenery of Bernese Oberland unfolds in front of your eyes and you will have plenty of time to enjoy steep hills of Lauterbrunnen valley, Siberhorn peak or even take a trip to the "Top of Europe" - Jungfraujoch - the highest

    railway station in Europe.
