What are the best and worst aspects of Puerto Vallarta for a traveler?

I'm considering going to Puerto Vallarta for a vacation in late December. What are some unique and interesting activities in and out of the city (besides the water sports/snorkeling, etc)?

They have a bull fighting arena there and you will be there for the start of the season. It is very interesting if you have never seen one before
