What are the best attractions in London?

I want to visit London England, but before I book my travel, I would like to know from local people about the best things to do and see while I'm there. I have done research on the web, but I am still unclear. I know that I want to take a guided bus or walking tour, but which is the best company to go with? I want to see all the major attractions, but what is the best way to get to them? Bus, rental car, taxi?

Thanks a bunch!

  1. I don't live in London, but it's my favorite place to visit (from Tennessee!). Since we have small kids and take strollers, it's easiest for us to use the local busses rather than the tube which has lots of stairs. We always have great experiences on the bus- they are reliable, run everywhere and frequently and the drivers are very helpful. Taxis would be way too costly. Our favorite attractions to do over and over are the Tower of London, a boat ride on the Thames, the London Eye, visiting all the wonderful museums, Westminster Abbey, taking day trips to Hampton Court Palace, Brighton beach, or any of the dozens of other places the busses run that can be accomplished in a day. We never felt the need for the guided bus tour but many find it helpful to get an idea of the sights and the layout when they first arrive. Also, I know there are several good walking tour companies- sorry, I can't remember the one my daughter has used. Have a great time- it's the best city in the world!

  2. The Tower of London always gives me a chill when I go. Beautiful setting, too.

    Westminster Abbey

    London Eye

    Piccadilly Circus

    Leicester Square

    London Dungeon

    Camden Town
