  1. I'm assuming you mean when you get washed here, all booties get water in them.

Depends on thickness of the neoprene. 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, 5mm, or 7mm? The thicker the more protection from cold

I surf down to 37 degree water and swear by my 7mm XCELLs, i think they're O'neills.

  2. booties are weird! i understand in freezing cold water.. but i see guys wearing them in hawaii when the water temp warm! no body wear booties here and if you do everyone is pretty much laughing at you....but from my oregon friends, north cal friends they wear o'neil

  3. You are always going to get some water in your booties.  Xcel and O'Neill probably are the two biggest companies when it comes to wet suit accessories.  I wear a pair of 5mm O'Neill Gooru round-toe booties and they have worked fine down to the mid 40's.  The Gooru is their most inexpensive style so figure if you pay more you will probably get better performance.

  4. I have been very happy with my pair of 3mm Rip Curl Core hidden split toe boots.  They get me through a NZ winter with a water temp low of about 12 to 13 degrees C.  Great for clambering across those rocky shorelines also, at any time of the year.  PS. all booties get water in them.  So they need to be snug and well fitting without being tight.  You may need to try a variety of brands to get the best fit.
