  1. I'm a huge fan of MSR tents, using the Hubba Hubba (super light weight) model.  MSR is known for making superior tents.

You may also want to try a Big Agnes tent too (Seed house 2, & the mountain tent) - super light weight and strong.

I have alot experience with The North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Kelty, Eureka, etc. but I don't think they're as good as any of the other two for backpacking.

Integral Designs makes a Siltarp 2 which is good for emergency shelters, etc.

Keep in mind that tents from Coleman, LL Bean, REI, Sears, Cabela's own brand will be much heavier, and not as well built.

  2. Coleman all the way!

  3. I've done alot of hiking in the grand canyon, and believe it or not, I found a tent in wal-mart that has one pole, and you use that as a hiking stick as you hike.  I can't remember the brand though, I think its a coleman.  it weighs 3.5 lbs counting the pole.  other than that you might spend up to like $200 for a good light weight tent for backpacking.  ya might ck that out.  oh its called a 2 person tent, although she'd have to be kinda pretty to be in there with me, its kinda narrow.
