  1. A buck private in the army does not need calling cards.

  2. Honestly, I don't think it matters - any calling card will do for Basic Training.

His time to make phone calls is going to be very limited at least until he is in AIT.

  3. I agree ... it really doesn't matter. I went to FLW, MO for basic traning and we only got to use the phone 4 times in 9 weeks! And of those 4 times ... not one call lasted more than 8 minutes. I know ... the drill SGTs had a freakin' stop watch timing each persons call. They'll let everyone get in a booth/stall, tell them when to pick up and when to hang up.

With that being said, I would get him something with less than 90 minutes of call time.

As for AIT ... you'll get to hear more from him. Depending on his MOS and his AIT location, he may be able to have a cell phone. Most places consider having a cell phone a privilege and must be earned (ie good behavior, passing PT, etc).

  4. he can not have a cell phone my husband got to have a cell  phone to call me with. ask him.
