don't use a book go to the stores and find things you like. go to other stores and find furniture and or pictures and then find a color that brings them all together. you can mix or match be care full and have fun.

I think magazines are the best although I have many interior decorating books. When I flip through home magazines I just pull out pages of designs, techniques, styles I like and keep them in a scrape book. For example; I'm buying a house that has a shade porch attached to the kichen. The entry door to the porch is outside on an exterior porch. I saw this pic and decided this is what I want, I liked the colors to, so I clipped the pic and put it in my folder.

Classical Living by Wim Pauwels.  As a matter of fact, any book by him is really good.  But it seems every interior design firm has Classical Living in their office.  It's out of print, relatively expensive, and difficult to find.
