What are the best colleges/universities/etc for music?

Specifically, I'm interested in vocal performance, theory and composition, musical theatre, opera.

  1. In your field of interest "follow the strength of the faculty".

    There are many outstanding music colleges in the USA.

    The very well-known one like Julliard and Peabody have a world wide reputation. That does not mean that they are the

    best choice for your chosen field of music.

    If I were you, ask your voice coach as well as look up the music conservatories (they all have web sites) on the internet

    and find who the members the faculty are in your field.

    Then contact the school and find out what their admission requirements are.

    Most of the time this information is available on their web page.

    By the nature of your question I am assuming that you already

    have a Bachellor degree and looking now for professional advance degree in your field.

    I mention this because some schools will give preference to those applicants that have completed their undegraduate education, and even with that the competition is fierce!
