the best contest subwoofer is the record holder...the digital designs z series 18 hit 180 some db off like 26,000watts by itself ....they did a setup with 2 of these monsters and hit around 181.7....whats better than the record holder...check em out

To add to what airforce said.  There is no best, because there are so many factors outside of the sub woofer that are far more important.  It is all in the install, the brand of speakers or amps are no where near as important.  Yes, there are a handful of companies that have had success in SPL competitions, but that does not mean other companies could not achieve the same success.

It all about the install.

There is no "best."  If there was, everyone would use it, and then everyone else would know what it is and there wouldn't be any room for debate.  People win all sorts of competitions with all sorts of sub/amp combinations.  There is no "best."

there is not best, but i like jlaudio and rockford fostgate

currently, the biggest, baddest speakers are the Oval shaped ones by Boston Acoustics that ive seen at least. well over 155 db for just two!

Otherwise you are looking at alot of different makes and models and number of subs that are similar in make and design
