What are the best digital SLR cameras available to buy in the UK?

I have heard the Canon 400D is a good buy, is this correct?

I would be looking to spend around £300-£450 maybe.

I've got a Canon 350D, the predecessor of the 400D and it's a great camera.  but that's only my opinion, it suits my needs.

You'll probably find there will be as many different opinions as there are digital SLRs.

Take a lead from the professional photographers.

Watch any newscast which has shots in which loads of photographers are jostling for position - if you see anything other than a Canon or a Nikon in their hands, do let me know!
