What are the best dishes that you would like to see when you look at a pub food menu?

Hmmmmm.  Are you in England? I'm in the States, but I'd pick.......

- Fish & Chips

- Steak & Frites

- Gotta have a good pub burger

- Croque Monsieur (I'm sure I spelled that wrong)

- A great Mac & Cheese side

- A portabella burger (for the vegetarians)

- Chicken confit

- A great bowl of chili or stew (for winter months)

- A New England crab cake is rare (except in New England)

- A local pub here does battered & fried asparagus spears (served whole) with a dipping sauce that I think has horseradish & probably mayo...or Ranch dressing.  Yumm.

Also, it's all about the French Fries for me.  The best pub I go to (and I know this next tid-bit b/c my friend works there) changes their fry-a-later oil every day... best fries around!! Everyone raves about them.

Really depends on where you are, but my local pub should have

1. A stew/hotpot of the day (tourist season in winter)

2.Steak burger with  great local beef, nice big piece & homestyle chips.

3.Lamb Cutlets with  a citrus mint sauce

4.Grilled Reef Fish from local coast

5.Fingerfood Platter, samosas, cocktail springrolls etc, all handmade in house.

6.Made in house Lasagne, meat & vego.
