  1. DW are the most reliable, best sounding, and best all around in my opinion...

  2. Pearl is really good but they go to c**p after 3-5 years.  Ludwig has a good sound and will last for years.  There's also a ton of small companies that hand carve their drums.

  3. DW

  4. you really cant get the "best drums" but what people usaully do is make their own setup. For example the bass drum is a pearl, crashes are sabians, snare is a ludwig, toms are dws, and double pedals are from tama. it sounds like your a beginner though so stay with just buy something like a pearl or tama 5 or 7 piece to start out.

  5. DW is a good drum company but not the best by any means. When they started out they were custom built drums, now they are just production drums like most everyone else. Most well known drum manufacturers make everything from cheap to very expensive. Obviously a $5000 set of Pearl's is better than a $1000 set of Tama's and vice versa. As far as Pearl's falling apart after after a few years, that is total BS. I have owned a Pearl Master Series kit since 1985 and they are still as perfect as the day they were purchased, and this is after 10 years of hard touring. Not so much as one stripped thread on a cymbal stand. So to get back to the question, it isn't the brand that matters. You will just get what you pay for no matter what the badge on the drum says.
