  1. Cycling, when done with resistance, can burn a lot of calories per hour. It's my go-to sport when I need a break from pounding the pavement.

    Swimming is great, too because it's non-impact. You just have to focus on doing laps rather than playing around in the pool.


  2. Swimming, erg (rowing) machines.  And ice your shins so you can get back into running!

  3. If you have access to a gym, give the elliptical trainer or cybex a try.  Return to running slowly.  Good luck!
